Hi! I’m Lauren and am the founder and head creator of L[dot] Candle Co. and I want to share a bit of its origin story. It all began with a pandemic, and a burning creative drive. The pandemic left me cooped up and restricted, both physically and creatively, so I took a virtual candle making class to express some pent up creative and physical energy. As I began making candles, my creative spirit lit up and it soon became a way of transporting me to other places and times. I was able to recreate smells from fond memories of the past, of places that brought me great joy. Although I couldn’t physically be there, the scents I began to create took me there…mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Smell is the sense most closely tied to memory, and I realized that the candles I was creating could be the catalyst of more than just nice ambiance. Thus was born the name, L [dot], representing the concept of traveling to latitudes and longitudes of special memories, anytime, anyplace, anywhere, just by lighting a candle. The candles became the catalyst for transport, escape, reminiscing, and making of new memories. The candles are my love letter to memories.
