Candle care

  • First burn

The first time you light your new candle, be sure to let it burn for a full 2 hours or until the wax has melted all the way to the edge of the vessel. This will help keep an even burn from then on. If you burn less than that, expect to have uneven burning or tunneling and less complete use of the candle.

For each burn from there, be sure the wick is trimmed to 1/4 of an inch prior to lighting.

  • Final burn

Make sure not to burn the candle all the way to the bottom - there should be a thin layer left once you’re done with it. If you keep burning it there is a risk that the glass could get overheated and shatter so stop once it’s 1/4-1/2 inch left of wax and be sure to blow it out if the entire bottom is liquified.

  • Cleaning out the wax

Once your candle is burned as much as it can, it’s time to clean it out and give it new life! Pour boiling hot water into the vessel and let it sit for a couple of hours. The residual wax will melt and rise to the top where you can easily pull it off, dump the water, and wipe out the inside. Now you’re ready to plant your seed card (see seed card instructions for 10oz candles) or use the tin for other fun things!
